It's All Coming Together
We are only two days away from the show. It's a wonderful feeling, watching a piece of artwork come together. This week we get to experience that feeling as we combine Becky Vall's and Sue's works, continue to tweak and work on transitions, and finally move into and within the space. We all know that everything we experience in the studio may change once we step into the Callanwolde mansion. The floors will be different. The amount of space in which we have to dance will be different. And the atmosphere will be completely different than that of the studio. Tomorrow we will find out just how different it will seem to move within the rooms of the mansion. But even then we will not know how it will feel to fully perform the piece because we will still be missing one crucial element, the audience. And that's where you come in. Do you have your tickets? You can buy them on the CORE website. Come out this weekend and share in our Secret. Until then, enjoy these rehearsal photos.

A Piece of the Puzzle
Like a puzzle, our performance is piecing together satisfyingly being intricately organized by our director Sue. The connections to one another are becoming more and more clear each time we fit another piece of the puzzle into our whole picture.
We are dancers even at rest... =)

BLOOM, Costumes, and Secret Preparations
Tonight, at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, CORE will be performing a tiny preview of Secret, which will be performed in full next weekend at Callanwolde, February first, second, and third. CORE will be performing alongside other artists as part of BLOOM, an evening of the Arts and Artists that bring Dekalb County to life.
Today we got a look at the costumes we will be wearing next weekend, which is always exciting. Patton White, Company/Production Manager of CORE, brought out the costumes he designed for the dancers, fitting everyone and altering where it was needed. Here are a few photos of the costumes. Notice how well Joshua's costume suits him.
As part of our inspiration for the choreography, we had to draw pictures. I don't want to give too much away, but these drawings happened way before we got a chance to see our costumes. Here is Juana Farfán wearing her costume, holding up her drawing. Notice how well they match.
After just a week of being back in the studio, we have accomplished so much. I am so proud of the company and all that we've accomplished this week. We hope to see you next weekend for Secret. You can get tickets and find out more about the show on our website.

Learning To Run
Today we were learning how to run. Our homework, per Sue's direction, is to learn how to run. Dancers, you see, may be able to dance where ever, but when it comes to running, you'd think we have two left feet. The trick was to run like a lady in a dress and run swiftly rather than run like a cross country runner.
Even though we can't run, we accomplished quite a bit otherwise. We continued to work and polish Becky Vall's work, Web. It's always interesting returning to a work that was choreographed weeks before. You have to recall so many things, like your original intention behind the movement, how the energy flows from one movement to the next, and how to combine your energy with everyone else's. After working on Becky's piece, we returned to Sue's work, which will move us throughout Callanwolde. And that brings us back to running. So come out February first, second, and third to see how well we learned to run.
