Moving Toward Health

If your stomach, heart, and mind were to have a physical body; what would it look like? How would a fully fed belly walk down the street? How would an empty belly move around the house after a long day of work?

These are the kinds of questions we are asking ourselves as we move into our work period for the Arkansas residency, Moving Toward Health Project. The mission of the Moving Toward Health Project is to raise awareness of the arts' ability to engender communication and to facilitate change in the context of social issues. Our objective is to engage the Conway community in addressing the issues surrounding eating disorders, body image and healthy lifestyles.

So next time you have a hectic day...take some time to find a way to physicalize those feelings & get your dance on!

MLK Service Day

CORE joined the volunteer yard crews who worked in Oakhurst neighborhood yesterday, helping to clean up the yard for an elderly (93 years old!) gentleman who had some serious kudzu in his back yard. Here are some photos of us in action.

Project BLOOM

Leadership DeKalb has a new group focusing on the arts and culture in the county (where Decatur is located for those of you outside of the area). A group of artists and interested business people met at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center on Friday evening with discussion by our artistic director, Sue Schroeder, along with Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund's Lisa Cremin and Metropolitan Atlanta Arts and Culture Coalition's Flora Maria Garcia. There were performances by Dekalb artists, including CORE Performance Company's men: Alex Abarca, Blake Dalton and Corian Ellisor. The guys did their trio from Navigating the Hallway, so for those of you who made it to that show, you may recognize it! Photos by David Fisher.
